ABOUT US

About Us

Chogogo Dive & Beach Resort was founded in 1997 in Curaçao as the first Caribbean hotel in the Jan Thiel Bay area.

In 2021 Chogogo Dive & Beach Resort started a second branch on sister island Bonaire. Both islands have their own identity to which Chogogo Dive & Beach Resort connects with its own character.

We have been providing our guests with the highest level of hospitality for over two decades, welcoming approximately 15,000 guests every year. It is our special mission to honor the local environment and the local community by operating as a sustainable resort.

Since 2014, we’ve been the proud owners of the “Travelife Gold Award” for Chogogo Dive & Beach Resort Curaçao. We aim to accomplish the same for Chogogo Dive & Beach Resort Bonaire.

Sustainability

At Chogogo Resort, we understand the importance of sustainability and are committed to minimizing the stress on our island’s environment.

Saving water & energy
Our resort operates on a system that uses freshwater in an eco-friendly way and keeps energy waste at bay with energy-saving lights, appliances, and equipment. All our hotel rooms are provided with water-saving taps and energy efficient boilers. On the roof of the entire resort, solar panels are installed to increase electrical efficiency.

Keeping it clean in a responsible way!
To decrease water and energy usage, and to make sure fewer chemicals end up in landfills and water treatment facilities, our housekeeping provides cleaning services every third day. All soap being used in our hotel is organic, which means that it doesn’t contain any chlorides or chemicals. Within our resort you won’t find any single-use plastic water bottles. Instead, we use pitchers and re-usable thermos bottles from Refill Bonaire. In cooperation with local initiatives we make use of waste separation and recycling.

Sustainable solutions

All the paint used in the resort is biobased and our porch furniture is made of Polywood. ”We currently recycle millions of landfill-bound and ocean-bound plastic containers every year and transform them into genuine POLYWOOD lumber.” For the Nespresso machines in our hotel rooms, we offer biodegradable coffee cups which are made of plants.
The Reverse Osmosis Desalination Process enables us to make our own fresh water for the pools and to relieve pressure on the public fresh water reserves. Our swimming pools are being cleaned with local salt from the salt pans. The purification engine that’s being used makes sure that: minimal chlorine is used to purify the water, no chlorine is being transported, and that there is no chlorine on site.

Supporting local

Many of the ingredients and products used within our dishes are sourced locally. Sourcing locally benefits the local businesses on Bonaire, the community, and the planet. Chogogo Resort also supports local organizations that aim to improve the local ecological environment and safeguard the wellbeing of local wildlife.
